Premiere: Chase - Anxious (Dirge)
Described as a “35-minute meditation on mental illness and urban disaffection”, L.A.-based experimental producer Chase presents 'Anxious', his beguiling debut album. Consisting variously of dense, rich ambience and moody electro cuts, ‘Anxious’ reveals Chase's ear for the unusual and the forward-thinking, in producing a personal portrait of his native city.
The album’s tone and aesthetic is inspired by Chase’s experiences with mental illness and addiction – his own and of others around him, with the release dedicated to 'anyone who lost the trail'. Throughout the album, guitars and vocals are transformed beyond immediate recognition, melting into the ambiguous, indistinct soundworld Chase has crafted through his analogue hardware-oriented creative process.
We’ve been given the exclusive premiere of album opener ‘Anxious (Dirge)’, four and a half minutes of recurring, gorgeous haze. Late night listening for fans of Tim Hecker, GAS and Huerco S.
‘Anxious’ is out now via Portuguese label OTA.
