Premiere: It's Been A While Tapes - Beneath

Introducing It’s Been A While Tapes – the new imprint from Radar Radio regular, Triple Point. In recent years Triple Point has been making waves up and down the country, most notably in London and Sheffield, for his careful yet weighty selections. His monthly Radar Radio show, also titled It’s Been A While, allows DJs explore the music they don’t usually play out, or haven’t been able to.

The inaugural release on IBAW Tapes sees No Symbols boss Beneath step up to the controls, delivering two 45 minute mixes of hybrid bassweight. Side A is an exclusive mix of unreleased material and dubplates from the man himself. The mix picks up pace throughout, showcasing the feverish, rhythmic darkness No Symbols has come to embody through the label and regular nights at Peckham’s Bussey Building. Side B, much like Triple Point’s Radar show, is 45 minutes of Beneath’s favourite records and those he doesn’t normally play out. This side features late-noughties classics such as Egypt’s ‘In The Morning (Let Your Love Come In)’ and the soothing shuffle of Cooly G’s ‘Love Dub Refix’.

Hearing both the inspirations behind an artist and the dubplates they’re currently pushing in one place makes for a unique and exciting project. This first release is strictly limited to 50 tapes, so get on them while they’re hot. With such a heavy label debut and some killer sets already behind him, expect to see more from the likes of Triple Point and IBAW Tapes in the months and years to come.
