Premiere: Emanative - Ominous Shanti / Black Enchantment

PREMIERE: EMANATIVE - OMINOUS SHANTI / BLACK ENCHANTMENT

APRIL 2017

Following a string of releases for Brownswood Recordings, Futuristica Musica and Ninja Tune, Emanative (aka Nick Woodmansey) is back with a super limited, privately pressed and self-released EP.

Ominous Shanti and Black Enchantment epitomise Nick's diverse tastes and influences. The former sees Nick collaborate with a host of musicians including Ninja Tune affiliate Sarathy Korwar and Collocutor's Tamar Osborn. The tune combines tabla rhythms and punchy brass with an earworm of a bassline, making for a truly spiritual piece of music. Recorded between the studios of The Heliocentrics head honcho Malcolm Catto and Ibibio Sound Machine, this one’s had big support from Gilles Peterson and the Worldwide family, so get on it before the record flies out.

Meanwhile, the flip 'Black Enchantment' sees Nick strip back his collective to the original Emanative nucleus of Ben Hadwen and Jessica Lauren alongside trumpeter Jaro Barnik. This one sits somewhere between jazz and hip-hop, with Nick's samples and sluggish beats the driving force of the tracks. Released digitally some time ago, the highly anticipated pressing of this to wax is not to be missed!

Last year Emanative delivered us an eclectic guestmix that demonstrated his many influences. These are all flavours you can hear on this brand new 7" and his monthly Worldwide FM show. Check it.

Ominous Shanti / Black Enchantment will be self-released, via. super limited private press, on May 12.
