Sound of '17: Oscar Jerome

Oscar Jerome is the singer-songwriter that the UK scene has been waiting for.

Late last year Oscar released his debut self-titled EP. Smooth instrumental arrangements are embellished with delicate jazz guitar and subtle, stylish electronics that sit neatly underneath Oscar's raw vocals and politically conscious lyrics. The result sounds like Jeff Buckley, George Benson, Gil Scott-Heron and MF Doom ending a game of cards with a tight jam.

As guitarist for SumoChief, Oscar's hip hop inspirations can also be clearly heard on the EP. The package is brought full circle with Jay Thomas Heigl and Maxwell Owin on production duties, and a number of incredible featuring musicians such as Moses Boyd, Joe Armon-Jones, Daniel Casimir, Sheila Maurice-Grey, Nubya Garcia and more.

As a live act, Oscar really throws himself into his tunes. Make sure you check him out at forthcoming shows at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on February 3rd and supporting Eric Lau on February 25th. Oscar is currently working on a new EP that we're sure will be more of the good stuff. Keep locked in for this one.
