From the South East to the North West and everywhere in between, London’s vibrant music scene continues to birth fresh sounds and weighty bands. The latest in our discoveries of that nature is soul-infused outfit, Ludi’s Eye.
Having only played out for the first time in May of this year, Ludi’s Eye are seriously ones to watch. Melodies and rhythms that nod to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Gil Scott-Heron and Dayme Arocena, sit Ludi’s Eye somewhere between Afro-Latin jazz and singer-songwriter soul music. Band leader and vocalist Clara Serra López pulls the group together in fine style. Yet you can still hear the space given to all the members of the band - a result of a musicianship and friendship that’s founded on jam sessions and ultimately, a passion for what they do.
Last month saw Ludi’s Eye drop their debut single, ‘Bite Your Tongue’. An infectious 5 minutes that explores one of those relationship roadblocks we all sometimes face - defensiveness getting in the way of maturity. In Clara’s words, “sometimes you just gotta let it go because you know it’s up to them to realise they are in a loop”.
